ON Thursday, President Bush traveled to Fort Benning, Ga., to promote his plan of sending more than 20,000 additional U.S. troops into Iraq. The president should have come to New Jersey and explained why 159 members of the state National Guard will have their tours extended by up to 120 days. The audience probably would have been less receptive, but equally patriotic. .

PORT HURON -- A Huron County woman faces a negligent homicide charge in connection with a crash in southeastern St. Clair County. Prosecutors allege the 48-year-old Filion woman ran a stop sign Dec. 3 at Meisner and Starville in China Township, the Port Huron Times Herald reported. The newspaper did not name the woman whom authorities claim caused a three-car crash that killed Edward Baker, 68, of Casco Township. Blaze damages Brady home Chesaning-Brady firefighters were trying to determine the cause of an early morning blaze which forced a family from their home. The blaze began shortly before 1 a.m. today at a two-story house at 19253 S. Brennan in Brady Township, said Fire Department Chief Daniel J. Ryan.

It will be updated by Automatic Updates from MS. Also, remote access to Home Server is via HTTPS, only uses necessary ports, and is disabled by default.
More protection sought for vulnerable adults

Vancouver attorneys Jessica Dimitrov and James Senescu described what happened next to the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday. When the mother finally sought legal advice, the two wrote out a petition for a protective order, submitted it to a judge, and obtained the order that same day, stopping the escrow company from disbursing the money. They were able to do that under a little-known 1999 law called the Vulnerable Adult Protection Act. But most people, including many lawyers, aren't aware the law exists -- and Dimitrov and Senescu said the statute has many flaws that make it unworkable for the ordinary citizen.
